Hello!
As Dollfie Dream rises in popularity, option hands have also become very popular — available in several cute poses, option hands can be used to give your girl a whole new expression! However, to a brand new DD owner, sometimes changing body parts can seem somewhat intimidating — not sure how to start? No problem! Changing DD hands is very simple, and in this post, I’ll show you exactly how simple!
A few tips before we get started:
- Make sure to purchase option hands that are in the same skin tone as your DD — unless it’s a specific character quirk, no use buying white skin hands for a normal skin girl!
- Please note that Mini Dollfie Dream can only use MDD option hands (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). [MDD-H-06 and MDD-H-08 are not yet available at Volks USA.]
- Please note that Dollfie Dream II (Normal Skin / White Skin), Dollfie Dream Dynamite, Dollfie Dream Sister, and Dollfie Dream III (Limited Edition only so far) all use DDII option hands (Normal Skin: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 / White Skin: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). [DDII-H-07, DDII-H-08, and DDII-H-09 are not yet available at Volks USA.]
Now — on the actual hand-switching! Follow below for a step-by-step photo tutorial. (Please note that the tutorial utilizes a DDII body and hands in the photos, but changing hands on the MDD body works exactly the same way.)

Changing hands on a DD is very simple, and can be done whether your girl is clothed or not -- however, when you're doing it for the first time, it's easiest to start without any clothing obstructions.

Grasp the wrist joint firmly with one of your hands, and hold the DD hand you will be removing in your other hand.

Still grasping the wrist joint firmly, slowly begin to work the hand off of the internal frame. If the hand is stiff and difficult to remove, you can use a hair dryer on low heat to soften the vinyl.

Eventually, the whole hand should come off of the internal frame.

Take a good look at the internal frame from above. Can you see that one side of it is slightly curved? When putting on new hands, make sure that the curved side is the palm of the hand, and the straight side is the back of the hand.

When putting on a new hand, begin by firmly grasping the wrist joint with one of your hands. Making sure that the internal frame is correctly oriented, use your other hand to slowly insert the frame into the new DD hand. Once again, if the hand is stiff and difficult to work onto the frame, you can use a hair dryer on low heat to soften the vinyl.

Make sure that the internal frame is completely inserted -- there's a kind of pop! when the hand is fully seated. You may also need to push the wrist joint fully back into the arm if it has loosened during the proceedings. Once everything is nice and tight, you're all done -- enjoy posing your girl's new hands!
I hope that all of our new DD owners found this tutorial helpful — we’ll be posting more in the coming weeks, so please keep an eye out!
