Magazine Review: Dolly*Dolly Volume 14!

Hi, everyone!

I’m back with another Dolly*Dolly review for you — this time of Volume 14!

Dolly*Dolly Volume 14!

Dolly*Dolly Volume 14!

This issue of Dolly*Dolly is all about knitting and crocheting — how to knit/crochet, how to knit/crochet specifically for dolls, and lots and lots of patterns and photo tutorials! Although there’s no central feature on Super Dollfie in this issue, SDs can still be found here and there — the Dolly News section has photo blurbs on Dolls Party in NYC 2, Dolls Party 17, and Tenshi-no-Sumika Fair 2007, and the event report section has several pages of photos from Dolls Party 17, as well as the SD-inclusive event Doll Show 19. If you enjoy looking at art dolls, there are also some large features on the work of Katan Doll and Koitsukihime!

There's lots of patterns that can be used to make cute little items and clothes for your dolls!

Don’t know how to knit or crochet? Not to worry! The issue is packed with step-by-step photo tutorials on the various stitches, detailed enough that they’re fairly easy to follow even if you can’t read Japanese.

While there's no SD-specific patterns, many of the patterns for smaller dolls can be adapted to either 22/25/27cm Dollfies, and hats/head accessories for larger-headed dolls (such as Blythe) can be adapted for SD or DD!

Since this is Dolly*Dolly, can't forget the sewing patterns -- some cute punky outfits for Licca-chan!

It wouldn’t be Dolly*Dolly without some sewing patterns — this issue features patterns for Licca-chan, Odeco-chan, Nikki, and Momoko!

This issue is a treasure trove for anyone who either knits/crochets for dolls or would like to learn how — in addition to the step-by-step tutorials, there’s a veritable mountain of doll-specific patterns. If you’re interested in the needle arts, why not give Dolly*Dolly 14 a try?
