Hey everyone!
If you keep up with our news, you may have seen that we will soon be releasing a new DD Standard Head, the DD-H-04!
This girl is super cute with big, round eyes, pudgy cheeks that you just want to pinch, and a sweetly smiling mouth!
Below, Sayuri has set up a look for her and given us some examples of her in different wigs and eyes! Along with that she made a little supplemental tutorial to show you how she brought this girl to life.

This is what she looks like straight out of the box. She’s already cute, isn’t she?
You’ll want to wash your head with a mild soap and some warm water to remove any oils or residues and set her aside! Try to avoid touching her skin, especially on her face, after this.

If you would like you can snip some of the material away from her headcap. Cutting a few wedges out with a nipper and pliers will make it a lot easier to remove and replace her headcap. If you don’t want to do this you can also warm up her head a little with a hair dryer.

The next step is to choose her expression. Will she be a sweet, innocent young girl, a cunning, mature woman, or something in between? It’s completely up to you! A Make Pen will help you enormously during this step!

Next, you will paint a soft outline where you made your earlier plans. Start with a light layer of the color you intend to use and darken it gradually. Moving from a light brown to a darker brown is very common for this step.Make sure that you let your paint dry completely in between steps and that it is not too thick! A thinner is included with your paints for just this purpose.
Once your paint is completely dry you can carefully wipe away the Make Pen marks with a little bit of water.
We recommend the Make Set, Basic Set, Paper Pallette, and Brushes of your choice for this step! All of these materials can be found on the Painting Tools page.

Next, you will paint the lips or other details in a color of your choice! Sayuri decided to give her pink lips and little blush lines on her cheeks.
Once this is done you are finished with your paints, so seal her head using ZM Finishing Powder Spray UV-Cut! Detailed instructions are available in this blog entry for using this spray!
Always make sure your spray is completely dry before continuing.

We want to give her cheeks a natural flushed look, so we’ll use a little bit of chalk pastel! Chalk pastels are a great way to give soft, natural color to your doll’s face!
Using sandpaper, make a fine powder of the pastel and tap it onto your palette. You can apply it using cotton balls, swabs, or soft brushes!
Spray one more time after this step!

If you would like, you can also give some natural shading around her eyes using the same pastel techniques. Sayuri used a blend of soft browns to really make her eyes pop!

After this step make sure that you spray again! Your head is now completely sealed and almost finished!

The last step is to add gloss to her lips and eyelids should you wish. You can add as little or as much as you would like, using the gloss and thinner together to control the consistency and build it up in light layers. One layer will give a slight gloss, two or more will give an intense shine.
Sayuri also used a little bit of White Shine Pearl here to really make our girl shiny! This pearlescent powder can be mixed in small amounts with the gloss to give some sparkle to your doll’s face.
Now we are done! Are you ready to see?

All of these looks were created with the same girl, modeling different eyes and wigs! A basic makeup like this will make your DD able to wear many different kinds of wigs, eyes, and fashions, but if you have a specific vision for your DD please pursue it!
Just a note, this girl’s eyes are really big and bright! We recommend only using 24mm eyes as they will fit her the best.
We can’t wait to see what our many talented customers do for this new girl! We hope that this has inspired you enough to want to bring her into your family!
