New Feature! HG Glass Eye Showcase!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Hi everyone!

Seeing as our Standard Model Showcases have been so popular we have decided to bring a brand new Showcase feature to you!

Starting from now we will showcase one of the HG Glass Eye colors every week.  We will be showcasing some colors together, such as Dark and Light Violet, and this week’s Showcase Blue (W) and (B).

Why are we doing this? We want you to get a feel for the different colors of eyes that we offer for your SD so showing the differences of the two types together will better illustrate how they actually appear. That way you can make better choices, and have less guesswork when ordering from our website.

We will also be giving you tips about eye placement, and choosing the right eyes for your doll.

Without any further ado, let’s get started!

As I mentioned, our first Showcase is Blue(W) and Blue (B)!

Nono, Mark, and Link!

Nono, Mark, and Link!

My helpers this time, as you can see from the picture, are Nono, Mark, and Link. All of them are the old Standard versions without the new, fancier makeup. Even so, just a change of eyes can really help to bring out their personalities. I’ll be going over each doll, telling you which eyes they are wearing, and in what size.

New Photospace!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Hello everyone! It’s Dandy, here to tell you that the new photospace design is complete!

Take a look:

Do you like it? I know I do! I helped Sayuri create this design to represent “a day at the park”. The design theme came out really serene, don’t you think?

Also, there are some new additions to the photospace that I’m sure you’re going to love. For one, the photospace’s backdrop uses the natural light from outside, giving you more lighting. The spotlights are also still available for use, and add the effect of a beautiful ray of sunshine beaming down through the trees. So, be sure to take pictures with and without the spotlights for varied effects.

The new photospace is also very roomy for multiple Volks dolls and sizes. Use the park bench for your larger SD, DD, and sweetheart couples. Or, rest your Minis, Yo-SDs, or Dollfies on the grass for a picknick, like our F-09 Boy is doing:

Or, let your Yo-SD and Dollfie swing on the tree swing, like our Sweet Dream Suzuna:

Just be sure to strap them in!

Once again, the newly designed photospace has created a new world for your SD, DD, and Dollfies. So, please stop by this weekend to enjoy the park view as your beloved dolls relax and play, and of course, don’t forget the camera!

(Note: Please remember that the photospace is a gift to our Volks doll owners, so only Volks dolls are permited use of the photospace. Thank you for your understanding.)

Yukino is sold out!

Monday, July 27th, 2009
Thank you, everyone!

Thank you, everyone!

With all of you DD lovers driving her momentum it was only a matter of time before Yukino became sold out!
DDs are getting more and more popular here at Volks USA and Yukino is leading them as our most popular girl. Her sweet face with it’s charming lips, and bright eyes is surely the reason why.
If you still want to bring Yukino home, don’t despair. She is one of our regular items, and we expect to be receiving more stock of her near the end of August or early September. So, it won’t be long before you have another chance.
We here at Volks USA really hope that Dollfie Dream continues to grab your hearts. We promise to continue to bring you more ideas and information on these unique dolls, who really epitomize this hobby, centered around the endless creativity of our fans.

Come Unglued!

Friday, July 24th, 2009

So last week I wrote you guys a tutorial on how to put in your doll’s eyes with putty, but what if their eyes are glued in?

I know some people would like to know why we glue in the eyes in the first place. It’s simple, really. Glueing the eyes in is the safest, most secure way to keep your doll’s eyes in long term.  It’s great when you want to keep your dolls in a certain look, and low-temp hot glue poses no risk to your SD’s material.

Even so, you might want to change them, and you might be the kind of person who wants easy access to your SD’s eyes, for ease of changing and posing. If you’re this kind of person you might want to know how to remove that glue easily.

If so, keep reading as I explain the process to you. It’s fairly simple, but time consuming, and you do have to be careful. But we recommend caution doing anything of this nature with your SDs

You only need a few things for this project.

Thanks for helping, Link!

Thanks for helping, Link!

-Your SD (of course, take their head off for this!)

-Tamiya X-20 Enamel Thinner (This thinner is generally safe for your SD’s makeup, but try not to get it on their face as it can leave behind faint traces where it has made contact.)

-A flat bladed tool. I am using the ZM Scalpel PD-20, but the MINESHIMA Carving Knife TM-102 also works very well.

-Paper Towels, or a Rag (to wipe things off/set things on.)

-Optional: Towel, or other soft, light colored fabric. I find it helps if I have fabric or something I can rest the doll’s head into if I need to. It’s not good for them to make contact with hard surfaces, even accidentally.

Headshots, Quick Tips!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Having trouble attaching an Option Head to a New-EB Body? We have here to demonstrate, our New-EB N Natural Skin with Option Head #05. Here we go, nice and simple! ☺

☜ The head goes on turned to the side, otherwise it won’t properly fit on the neck-joint piece.

☜ Once it’s on, turn in frontwards and it’ll lock in place. Tadaa!
