For this demonstration we have used a Renewal Version of MSD Girl Myu. The Renewal Versions come standard with KIPS disks, a magnetic head cap, and is made from our special UV-protect resin; whereas, the Older Versions do not have UV-protect, do not come with KIPS disks, and have a head cap that is attached by a rubber band. However, both models’ content is similar and assembly for both versions is essentially the same.
This is what your MSD Assembly Kit will look like out of the box:
Included should be: Wig, Acrylic Eyes, Eye Putty, S-Hooks (5), Washers (4), Elastic Cord (1), KIPS disks (3) (only with Renewal Versions), Rubber Band (1) (only with Older Versions), MSD Head, MSD Body Parts (detailed in Step 1), and MSD Instruction Booklet; you may want to use this booklet to help follow along through this lesson (Page 6).
Additional items needed for assembly:
- A good pair of scissors
- A tape measure or yard stick
- A pair of cotton or latex gloves (optional)
- Super Dollfie Clip Holder- 150mm
- Stringing Tool for Mini Super Dollfie
- Dollfie Stringing Tool for Head Parts
Follow below the cut for all of the instructions!
Step 2: After you have laid out your pieces you are going to cut your elastic cord. To do this, first measure it out and then cut it into the two following lengths:
Elastic Cord A: 57 inches
Elastic Cord B: 33 1/2 inches.
Once you have cut your two pieces of cord, take each cord’s loose ends and tie a knot as tightly as you can, as pictured.
Step 3: Take Elastic Cord A and place the knotted end on to your index finger. Then, bring the middle of the hanging length to meet the knot, making two even loops of elastic, as pictured. Then, attach the large S-Hook to the elastic, as pictured, in place of your finger. Make sure you are attaching the larger end of the hook to the elastic.
Step 4: After you have attached the S-hook to the elastic, run your Stringing Tool up through the Upper Torso and neck to hook onto the two loops of elastic cord. Pull the elastic cord all the way through the torso until you can feel the S-hook resting flush against the neck. There is a notch in the neck for the S-hook to rest in. You may want to make sure that the S-hook is in approximately the right place to rest in this notch.
Step 5: Once you have attached the Upper Torso, seperate your elastic loops, as pictured. Then, you are going to attach the Lower Torso by pushing the Stringing Tool up through one of the leg holes and out through the top of the Lower Torso piece, hooking it onto the adjacent loop of elastic, and then pulling it through. Once you have pulled the elastic through on each side of the leg holes, make sure that the elastic loops are even to one another. You can even them out by pulling lightly on one piece of the elastic cord on the shorter side.
Step6: Once you have connected the Torso pieces, you will then want to prepare the legs for attachment. You will attach them one at a time. Using your Stringing Tool like a skewer, slip the leg parts on it in the following order from bottom to top: Ankle Joint (large ball joint), Washer, Shin, and Thigh.
Make sure that when you slip the Ankle Joint on, you are placing the flat part of the Joint down, so that the ball part will be connected to the shin. Once you have prepared the leg, attach the hook of the Stringing Tool to the corresponding side of the lower torso elastic loop, pull it all the way through the leg, and down past the ankle.
When you pull the elastic through, make sure that the hook of the Stringing Tool is facing either up or down; if the hook is facing to the side it may catch on the resin as you are pulling it through:
Once you have pulled the elastic through, and past the ankle, hold the elastic in place and release the Stringing Tool so that you can attach an S-hook. Then, release it, making sure that it rests horizontally in the notch on the Ankle Joint:
Also, be mindful of the opposite elastic, as it might start to retract as you pull the first side through. To prevent the loose elastic from retracting you can either use the Clip Holder to hold it in place, or you can just monitor it, using your finger as a levy while you attach the the first leg. When you have finished attaching the leg, you should have something like this:

As you can see here, we chose to use the Clip Holder to hold the opposite elastic in place as we attached the first leg.
To attach the second leg, you will follow the same steps as you did for the first leg. However, this time when you are pulling the elastic through you will be able to feel the tension in the elastic.
In order to prevent the elastic from slipping back through the leg, use your Clip Holder to clamp the elastic in place once you have pulled it through past the ankle. Once you have clamped the elastic in place, grab an S-hook, and attach it to the end of the elastic just as you did for the first leg. Then, firmly holding onto the hook and elastic, release the clip holder and ease the hooked elastic up to the ankle joint so that it can rest horizontally into the Joint’s notch.
Once you have run Elastic Cord B through the first arm, lay the arm along the body on it’s correct side. Then, take your Stringing Tool and run it horizontally through the Upper Torso from the opposite side, as pictured:
Attach the end of Elastic Cord B to your Stringing Tool. Once you have done so, pull the elastic through to the other side. You will need to pull the knotted ends of the elastic through the armhole and into the the Upper Torso. Make sure it stays in the body cavity and does not come out the other side.
Once you have pulled the elastic through the armhole, you can then attach the second arm by repeating the same steps as the first. Again, just as with the second leg, you will feel the tension when pulling the elastic through the second arm. So, use your Clip Holder to hold the elastic in place before attaching the S-hook.
Step 8: Once you have attached both legs and arms, you are then ready to attach the hands and feet using the One-Touch System. There may be some extra resin covering the connector screws. So, you can remove it by using the hook of the Dollfie Stringing Tool for Head Parts to poke through the thin resin layer:
Once you have removed the excess resin, attach the hands and feet by hooking the connector screws to the corresponding S-hooks. While holding firmly onto the wrist/ankle ball joint, firmly grab the foot/hand and S-hook, pull out and turn the S-hook and foot/hand ninety degrees before returning it back into the ball joint.
The ankle joints have a small, square piece on them that connects into a slot in the back of the inside of the foot, so you will want to make sure that the foot and joint are aligned correctly so that they will fit flush after doing the One-Touch attachment.
Step 11: Once you have attached the hands and feet, you will then want to pull on the legs and arms to adjust the tension and even the limbs out. At that time, you can also get a feel for how tight or loose your doll is.
If you are satisfied with your doll’s tension, you can attach the last KIPS disk (the large one) to the neck. To do this, use your Head Stringing Tool to pull on the neck’s S-hook, exposing the elastic cord. Then, use your Clip Holder to hold the elastic in place:
Once the elastic is held in place, remove the S-hook and gently slide both loops of the elastic through the KIPS disk. The KIPS disk can stretch some, but be careful not to overstretch it as it may break. Once you have attached the disk, re-attach the S-hook to the elastic. Once the disk and S-hook is on, you can then use your head Stringing Tool again to pull, so that you may unclamp the Clip Holder, and ease the S-hook back down to the neck:
Were you able to follow along? I hope so. You should probably give yourself a pat on the back because after Step 11, you are essentially done with the body assembly! Your MSD body may need tightening, but this will be quick, and easy, and will be taught in the next lesson.
As for the head, attachment is very easy, but will be explained in a later lesson since make-up should be applied to the head first! We will also be having a tutorial on seam line removal!
So, stay tuned for these lessons, and soon you will be on your way to creating a lovely Mini Super Dollfie!
