Kyoto Dolpa 6 & 4th of July

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Hi, everyone!  First of all, a huge thank-you to all of you who came to the release of the Kyoto Dolpa 6 Regular Items yesterday – we had a wonderful time seeing everyone (and their dolls!) who came to the showroom!

One of our favorite parts of any release (or any regular day in the showroom, for that matter!) is seeing all of the beautiful dolls that our customers bring with them to the showroom.  We always make sure to have lots of SD sofas on the counter so that owners can shop in comfort — the fact that the staff can then admire the dolls from close up is just an added bonus. =^_^=  Also, please feel free to ask if you can try on a particular item on your SD — we’re happy to provide changing pillows so you can determine whether something is just right for your doll.

To everyone who ordered via the web, we will be shipping out all of the items within the coming week, so please look forward to receiving them!  And if there’s an item that you desperately wanted from the new collection that is showing as unavailable on the website, we will very occasionally have a display outfit still available in the physical showroom — so if you don’t mind if an outfit has been on display, it never hurts to shoot us an email at service@volksusa.com to check the availability. ^_~

Finally, as Anime Expo draws closer, we’ve had several inquiries from customers as to whether we will be open on 4th of July weekend — YES, we will be!  We will be keeping normal store hours of 11am-6pm on both Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5.  So whether you’re a local wanting to drop by to pick something up or a visitor coming from out of town for the convention, feel free to drop by and say hi to all of us at Volks USA!

~Ordering~ Mysteries Revealed!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Hi! We’re getting many new customers nowadays! So I’m going to show how to place an order through our web store.

First, please click the ”Add to Shopping Cart” button on the page of the items you wish to order. It’s the same as most web shops.

If you have any questions about our items, please feel free to ask us at service@volksusa.com before you place your order! We’re happy to help all of our customers. We will try our best to answer you as soon as possible, but please understand if there is some delay. During the weekend it is sometimes difficult to reply quickly because our showroom is open! Your questions often give us good ideas for this blog, and for new information on our web store! So, you can help us!

If an item is not available, the message above will be shown. Regular items such as tools, materials, regular wigs, etc. will be restocked, though it may take some time. We will make them available as soon as we receive them. Please keep your eyes on our web site while you wait!

Some items such as outfits, shoes, limited wigs, etc. are only produced once, so don’t miss out if you find something you like! You can get all of the newest release information at our event blog!

Do you have all of the items you wanted in your shopping cart? Don’t you forget anything! When you’re sure,  then click “Checkout.”

You can calculate your shipping cost here. The following shipping methods are available.

For US residents: UPS Ground or USPS Express Mail

For Canada residents: USPS EMI to Canada

For Mexico residents: UPS Worldwide Expedited or USPS EMI to Mexico

If you want to come to pick up your items at our showroom in Los Angeles you can choose: Pick up at Store (CA Sales Tax will apply to any pick up orders even if the original order location is outside of California.)

You may already know this, as we state it in our Shipping and Refund Policy, but customers from Canada and Mexico may be required to pay customs or brokerage fees. Please understand that we are not involved in, nor can we control these fees.

We are also sorry to say that we can not declare a lower value, or mark packages as gifts. Doing these things fraudulently can result in fines, and legal trouble for us, which ultimately makes us less able to help you, our customers. We are proud to be a company who follows these regulations.

We cannot ship outside of the USA, Canada and Mexico because of our business regulations, but VOLKS Japan has an international website, and you can contact them in English at imos@volks.co.jp.

If your shipping address is a P.O. Box and you want to ship with UPS, please provide the street address also.

Next is the billing information. We accept VISA, Master Card, American Express and Discover. If your billing address is different from your shipping address, make sure that you input your billing address correctly so that the merchant system can process your payment as smoothly as possible.

You can receive our many different free instructional manga with your order! If you are interested, please request the ones you want in the comments section of your order!

Confirm your information…

…and you are done!

You will be sent an automatic email which includes your order details and number. This order number will help us a lot in case you need to contact us. If your email software has a junk mail folder, please make sure our email hasn’t ended up there! If you can’t find our email anywhere, maybe you may have mistyped your email address? Please contact us at service@volksusa.com.

You can also check your order status from the link in this email. We normally process regular orders by the next business day, but there may be delays after a new release day, national holiday, or a day when our office is closed. Anyway, we always try to ship out your order as quickly as we can, so if you find any mistakes with your address or items please contact us immediately!

Once your order is shipped out, you will receive another automatic email with your tracking number. Please look forward to receiving your items soon! We hope that you enjoy them!

Standard Model Showcase ~ SD Sara

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Hi guys!

Another week goes by with no Showcase? What happened?! I am sorry, but I was out of town! I promise to be much more vigilant in posting the Showcases from now on! Thank you for understanding.

This week’s Showcase is Super Dollfie Girl Sara! Sara is another one of the “Four Sisters” dolls, sister to Megu, whom we have Showcased previously.

The Sisters, Megu, Sara, Nana, and Kira (who is no longer available as a Standard) all have the same face mold. But, they come with different wigs, eyes, and makeup. Looking at these three girls is a good way to see the versatility of Super Dollfie.

Of these three girls Sara is my personal favorite, so I was pretty excited to do the showcase for you this week!

MSD Assembly Manga!

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Better late than never! We now have, in addition to our growing line of manga tutorials, a “How-To” on the assembling of MSD Kits! Hopefully this will help a little when it comes to putting Mini Super Dollfie together.

So you know the drill by now! Stop on by during the weekend when shop’s open to pick one up, or you can request one along with your order online. :D

Assembling Your MSD Kit: Part 3 (Optional)

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Welcome back everyone! In this lesson we are going to show you how to remove the seam lines from your MSD, however, please note that this lesson is optional and will require you to disassemble your MSD. Or you can you can remove the seam lines from your MSD right our of the box, before first assembly.

By now, you have probably noticed the seam lines along the sides of each of your MSD’s body parts that look similar to this:

Example of seam lines on the thigh.

These seam lines are created by the manufacturing process. Some people do not mind these seam lines, and some do. Removing the seam lines is more of an aesthetic choice, but it is also a good way for owners to bond with their SD as this is a technique that requires delicacy and patience.

Items needed for seam line removal:

-Zoukei-mura Ceramic Knife/Flat Blade

-Zoukei-mura Sponge Paper #400-600

-Zoukei-mura Sponge Paper #800-1000

-Tamiya Finishing Abrasives P400

- Tamiya FInishing Abrasives P600

-A good pair of scissors

- Face mask (optional)

-A wet cloth or cup of water (optional)

The instructions are below, as always!
